General Manager

Job Description

Manages the day-to-day operations of The Dog Nest. Ensures employees adhere to company policies and procedures. Responsible for the training and development of The Dog Nest staff. Ability to perform all aspects of the Front Desk, Handler, Assistant and Butler positions. Adheres to the company’s policy regarding the treatment of its animals.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring our guests, employees, and animals experience a memory of a lifetime and making sure this experience is extended to non-employees our staff member’s encounter
  • Responsible for safety of our guests, employees, and animals
  • Handles medical concerns and/or issues regarding dogs’ health & instructs staff on how to care for animals with medical needs
  • Ensures employees adhere to the company’s service standards, policies, and procedures and answers any questions or concerns employees or guests may have regarding policies and procedures
  • Resolves guests’ concerns and/or complaints as well as provides employees with guidance in handling these situations
  • Resolves any employee conflicts or situations that may arise
  • Responsible for scheduling staff while keeping overtime to a minimum and adjusting the posted schedule as needed when daily tour numbers are received
  • Inventories supplies
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained
  • Regularly attends manager meetings
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with Upper Management
  • Trains and instructs employees in job performance and conformance to the company’s service standards, policies, and procedures or arranges for the training to be provided
  • Documents employees’ performance via completing a quarterly evaluation form
  • Responsible for handling employee discipline issues and discussing job performance problems with employees to identify causes and concerns and to work on resolving them
  • Provides employees with consistent feedback, both positive and constructive, and recommends appropriate action as needed
  • Sets quarterly performance goals with employees and monitors their progress towards them

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs all aspects of the Front Desk, Handler, Assistant and Butler duties as scheduled and as needed
  • Other tasks as directed by management

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license or the ability to attain one
  • Ability to work irregular work schedules
  • Prior experience working in a Dog Daycare, boarding facility help, but not required
  • Prior management or leader experience

Environmental Conditions:

  • Will be subject to noise, to include but not limited to, constant dog barking
  • Will be subject to hazardous conditions (working with different cleaning equipment, handling dogs, etc.)

Some Physical Aspects of the Job:

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40lbs
  • Position involves frequent (usually at least 2.5 hours a day but no more than 5.5 hours a day) standing, walking, handling objects, grasping items.
  • Position involves occasional (usually no more than 2.5 hours a day) sitting, carrying, balancing, bending, stooping, and kneeling

Dog Trainer

Job Description

We are currently seeking Highly Qualified Trainer to fill High Demand Client Requests.

  • Client consultation to discuss behavioral issues and training requirements.
  • Identifying and talking with clients about extra behavioral difficulties
  • Creating and recording appropriate dog training plans.
  • Using a variety of training strategies that are best suited to each dog’s personality and characteristics, teaching dogs to accept basic commands.
  • Putting in place suitable training programs to address and manage issues like as aggression, separation anxiety, hyperactivity, and biting.
  • Keeping the training areas clean and orderly.
  • Teaching customers how to use proper training methods to reinforce and preserve the behaviors and skills that their dogs have gained throughout training sessions.
  • Making contact with clients to plan training sessions, confirm bookings, and enquire about past-due payments.
  • Identifying and resolving specific canine behavioral issues
  • Training owners to learn excellent approaches.
  • Reinforcing positive behavior in dogs and teaching them how to finish agility courses while training.
  • Teaching dogs how to be certified assistants.

Qualifications

  • Having a high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate is required.
  • It is advantageous to be certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT).
  • A thorough understanding of dog training techniques as well as animal behavior and body language is required.
  • Working as a dog trainer with a track record of success.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Dog-handling abilities are excellent.

Front Desk Position (Part-Time)

Job Description

Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30pm
Some Weekend Shifts 2:00-5:00pm

We are seeking a highly-skilled and self-motivated Front Office Position to join our growing team. In this position, you will play a key role by performing various administrative and clerical tasks in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable undertaking a variety of activities in the office and ability to multitask. Reliability and strong work ethic combined with great communication skills are a must, as well as familiarity with all necessary office equipment, software and procedures.

Front Office Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet clients and set a positive office atmosphere
  • Answer the phone, book stays, days, spa and training appointments
  • Organize and maintain files and records, update when necessary
  • Create and maintain updated documents and spreadsheets
  • Superior attention to detail

Front Office Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Successful work experience in a front office setting or in another similar position
  • Strong working knowledge of office procedures and basic accounting principles
  • Ability to effectively use and maintain office equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office helpful
  • Outstanding communication and writing skills
  • Great organizational and multidisciplinary and multitasking skills
  • Exceptional typing skills

Dog Handler

Job Description

Monday – Friday and Weekend Shifts available. Reliability is a must.

Duties and Responsibles:

  • Supervise groups of dogs in playgroup environments
  • Learn dog behaviors and practices and assign to groups appropriately
  • Learn Positive Reinforcement techniques for handling with kindness and love
  • Clean play areas and suites (Cleaning (dishes, laundry, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming and more)
  • Prep meals and feed
  • Give Medications
  • Must be able to work 6-8 hours on your feet with repeated hinging at the waist
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds
  • Must possess strong multi-tasking skills
  • Write daily notes about dogs
